We have a FULL Bathroom!!

Well, it has happened - we now have a half bath and a full bath. Joe finished up all the 'major' parts of the bathroom and now there are just some details left. Since this is Myra writing this - I can brag about what a FAB-U-LOUS job Joe did (the bathroom was completely his project). As you saw from a previous post he tiled the shower and did textured paint on the walls. Since then, he also tiled the floor. Moved the vanity from our half bath to this the full, fixed a leak in plumbing under the house and installed the new toilet. Not to mention all the little details...okay, enough of my bragging! Here are some more before/after pictures of the near finished bathroom...

Our smelly days are over ...

Well it's offical, the tile is up, the grout is dry and has been sealed. Now we can actually SHOWER at our house! Who knew we could go so long without a shower. Now its time to finish redoing the rest of the bathroom -- any volunteers?!. Heres some before and after of the shower! Take note of how excited Myra was the day we started ripping the shower apart!

Tour of our new pad

You've seen all the scary before pictures (if you don't remember just search through our old posts). Thought is was time to see some 'it's finally starting to get better' pictures after we are semi-settled in. Our low-tech virtual tour starts in the kitchen (the laundry room is actually through a door to the left by the fridge - but its not very exciting).

Next we bring you into our dining room/living room:

Going through our dining room leads us to our hall (the bookshelf is to the right as you walk through the arched doorway):

The green room is the baby's room (not really too much in it right now - more pictures in the future). Then our guest room is the chocolate/vanilla room (the ice cream room):

The BIG Moving Day

At the end of May we decided that as wonderful as it was to finally have a house it might be a little more exciting to actually live in it! So, with work left to be done (we think there will ALWAYS be work left to be done) - we set the date and moved.

We sent out an email to our friends in the Young Marrieds group at church, not sure who could actually make it. Well, we ended up with not 10, not 15, but NINETEEN people at our apartment to help us move on a typical rainy Oregon day. Here's a picture of most of them. It took RECORD time to move out of our 2nd floor apartment in Corvallis to our house about 15 miles away in Albany.

We had lunch at our apartment for everyone to help (to get the energy to start the move). Then, we provided some yummy store-bought desserts at our house after the moving van and all the cars & trucks were unpacked. Promise of food works everytime!! :-)

A long overdue update - first THE WINDOWS!

Well, as we mentioned MONTHS ago we had new windows installed. We were very excited to get the old barely working windows out and get the new ones in. Here is some before/after pics of the window.

The above is the front of our house (kitchen side) below is the living room side of the house (also front). Yeah, yeah, we know it's not that exciting - but it is to us!

The only 'bad' thing was that the windows had to be put flush against the front of the house, which means that we had a big ol gap in the inside of the house where you could see our cinder block walls.

A little hard to see here - but trust us, it was not pretty. Shortly after we moved in we found a young guy on craigslist who was just starting out. He did the encasements for all the windows for about the same price we would've paid the window people to do TWO. Here is an after picture. Okay, enough window pictures!

WINDOWS WILL BE INSTALLED ON WEDNESDAY... FINALLY!!! We've also installed new kitchen floor, hung up some more light fixtures, re-hung our kitchen cabinets, and tore out the old green tub!!

Some before and afters

Well the floors are done. Sanded, cleaned up, sealed, and coated. Talk about a process but WE LOVE THEM! Here's some pics, they certainly aren't completed rooms but they are on their way!
